What memory?

Re: What memory?
He has the 680i, which is an Nvidia chipset.

I'd recommend the 280 or 285 which you can get for $300 or lower when on sale, if not then go for the 260. In most cases I would have suggested something cheaper in an SLi setup but since you said you don't like dealing with computers I'd say that you wouldn't want the extra trouble.

Re: What memory?
9800GX2 is a good way to go if you don't want to fuck around with the more complicated things but still want a dual card solution. Otherwise I'd go with a strong single card solution, in some cases a 280-285 or 290-295 and even a 260 can blow out dual cards in some games. The reality is that most games aren't as optimized as they should be for dual cards but games that are do gain a boost.

Decent choices for cheap SLi setup:

(2) 9800GTX+
(2) 9800GT
(2) 260 but this would be about $430

Re: What memory?
$300 wouldn't get you far for a mobo and a GPU.

Re: What memory?
ATI Cards work on nvidia chipsets, but you wont get the best out it, getting an nvidia card is much smarter and cheaper. Like what hades said, cant get a good mobo and card for $300. I say go with one of the 2xx series as they are the most powerful ones right now and some of them are reasonably priced. Dont get SLI because of what hades said, youll find urself disabling one vid card most of the time so that you can run a game with no problems, and compatibility issues.

Re: What memory?
Bit a hijack, sorry. What about like a Radeon 4870X2? I'm still considering one, or a 295GTX? Are they considered SLI? Or do they just work as a regular card?

Re: What memory?
295 is a single card, 4870x2 is a double-gpu solution on one board. So it's like a Crossfire solution and in most cases more stable overall; however, not a true SLi or crossfire setup.

Re: What memory?
what hades said, but if u get a 4870X2 there is no need for a 2nd one, unless you are using crazy resolutions/ some vid editing. 2 295's is overkill in my opinion, unless you want it to last super long.
