Re: Weigh in on drug legalization.
I'm opposed to drugs but seeing as how the drug war isn't accomplishing anything, might as well legalize and tax it. Cigarettes and alcohol are just as worse if not more.

@Angel

You do realize that I don't spend more than a minute looking at what I post?

From this point on I'm going to scrutinize every single one of your posts to let you know how annoying it is.

Edit: This post was also made while I was playing, like the majority of my posts.

Re: Weigh in on drug legalization.
If pot was legalized tomorrow, I'd be at the pot store that afternoon. I'd rather be high than drunk any day of the week. I don't drink because I don't enjoy any part of it. I don't smoke pot now though because I have a family, job, life etc that I don't want to endanger by some bullshit getting pulled over for speeding and going to jail for possession.

Agree.

Can't smoke if you want a decent job. Unless you're Homebrew, he lucked out.

I got my job before insurance companies started invading peoples personal lives thru the workplace.
Needless to say, I'd win the safest employee award.
Pot was made illegal due to lies and people wanting to control what others do. I consider it legal. As for the other drugs, if you wanna ruin your life and be strung out on the hard shit, be my guest. When it ends up killing the people using them its just one less person cloggin up this place. I'm harsh. Pick your poison wisely.
Peace and Love....Peace and Love...

Re: Weigh in on drug legalization.
I am actually really excited about all the publicity the legalization bills are getting. I don't think it's a shocker that I am for legalization. I enjoy recreational, medicinal, and social drugs. Can anyone confirm a rumor I heard that some cigarette companies keep a cannabis crop at the ready and destroy it annually every time they shoot the bills down? I don't know if i really believe that, but it would be kinda cool if big tobacco was that ready for the potential legalization. I really wish people in charge of legislating had less restrictive agendas and more open minds. Pot needs some seriously hard hitting, powerful advocates to get more gears turning. A lot of the early campaigns for any governmental position focus on tearing the oppositions image apart and I hate seeing drug use thrown into the mix. The more we ostracize people for their drug use the less acceptable it becomes to the largely ignorant public. I don't mean to call anyone here ignorant by any means, especially since we so often engage in these back and forth debates, but there's a substantial amount of evidence denying most of the negative claims surrounding marijuana usage.

Hades I know from past conversations that you don't see the point in smoking pot. I didn't have much to say in response to that because that's a sentiment I too once had. I remember the days I said I would never even think of smoking pot and I am a little sad I didn't stick to my guns for a couple reasons I wont bore you with. As time went on, and 1 by 1 my friends started smoking it, I remember thinking how much better than them I was for not smoking. I thought this because I bought into all the negativity dished out by my superiors who at the time were my parents/family as well as the professionals at my school and in my community. They liked to associate drug use with the worst characters in my community and it worked...for a while. It wasn't until the summer after my freshman year that I first smoked pot, and another 2 years until I bought my first bag. I slowly started to realize that, not only did not smoking pot not make me superior to anyone, but also that it doesn't have to have a negative affect on people. The stereotype (at least the one now emphasized by anti drug agencies) is that smoking weed produces incredible laziness. I have found this to be particularly inaccurate, almost as inaccurate as anti drug agencies first approach that people who smoke pot will likely harm someone. The majority of my friends in high school were a year ahead of me, and they all smoked pot. Of these people (about 15 I would consider good friends) there were 2 valedictorians, 2 salutatorians, and the rest were all within the top 30 of their classes, each about 140 people. They are all, what I would consider, rational thinkers, and they all are particularly gentle individuals who "go with the flow." I started to wonder how they did it, how did they manage to smoke pot AND get good grades on top of playing 1-2 varsity sports? I remember feeling angry at times when I put so much effort into an assignment and received a poorer grade than my pot smoking associates.

Sorry for being so long winded haha

Hades I would like to say honestly there's no real point to smoking pot. I think what I said to you was that it makes things more enjoyable, and I don't think that's what I really meant. I mean only to say that it offers a different perspective on a lot of the day to day activities we all engage in. We are alike in that we both are young adults in the same nation facing some of the same issues. However I think we differ greatly in our experiences. I grew up in a largely rural community where little has changed and where monotonous routine exhausts free time. I think I finally accepted weed as an enjoyable drug when I became bored with life. Doing things high gave me a chance to relive a lot of things with the same wonder I had as a child. Now I enjoy smoking mostly to relax or be social.

Another misconception is the classification of weed as a "gateway drug"
I don't have a particularly strong argument against this view but I certainly don't agree with it. As some of you know, I also occasionally drop acid too. While I certainly agree my use of Marijuana may have opened me up to other experimental drugs, I don't think it was the most influential contributor to my acid use. I think a persons personality is a strong factor in addiction as well as experimentation.
