New Laptop
Gonna sell my Macbook Pro. Had it with this thing, heats up SO BADLY, other then that had fun with it for 2,5 years.

Now I'm gonna purchase a Dell XPS 16 with an Intel® Core™ i7 Processor 720QM (1.60Ghz, 6MB cache)
4 gigs or ram, an 128GB Solid disc drive and a 1GB HD4670.

I've been seriously looking at the Alienware laptops, but those are way too heavy to be called "mobile"

Anyone has good expierences with Dell itself?!

Re: New Laptop
Feedback?! why?

Been looking at Alienware today... AGAIN. The thing looks so badass, and the hardware is topnotch :/

Shit, im seriously having huge doubts between these 2... for real.

People, Give me some MAJOR reasons why I should go for the Dell or Alienware.

And no, do not tell me to buy a desktop, cause I wont.

Pro Tip: Get a used one from ebay.

High end laptops are like cars, as soon as you buy it the price drops by 20%+

Re: New Laptop
Nah, not getting one that has been used.

Just saw that theyve given the option to build the HD5860 1GB from Ati.

Seems thats a very reasonable card, and its cheaper then the nVidia... doh ofcourse.

Re: New Laptop
I've got an Alieanware M17x, Zero. I have to say. It is kinda heavy, but, but remember. The M17x is base of a Desktop System. I've had it like 1 Year now and i have no issuses with it at all bud. Runs most of the high-end games Very Well. Smooths Over all if ya ask me. Price wise? Yeah, i've spent almost 3 grand for this thing. Hurts but i'm sure it'll last me for a pretty long time.

You can get a 1 single graphic-card, that comes with it with 1 gig Nvedia. or you can have 2 gig of Videocard, useing SLI. Meaning you'll have 2 Graphic-card in this thing. You can run it Dual or Single, it's up to ya. Want better ping and more speed? Runs it in SLI, both card.

I'm only useing 1 single card and it's awsome already. Imagine running it in Daul Mode Wink. I got the 260m, but now they offer the 280m Dual or Single doesn't matter. Just more dent in the wallet that's all, LOL.

Mine is a Quad Core 9000 Series. Now, it comes with the i3 up to i7 Core. Should be nice.

Re: New Laptop
Lmao Pommie.

@Got it

M17x is nice indeed, but too heavy and big for me, I still would like to have it a bit mobile. M15x should be right for that.

Yes, they do have the i7 cpu's right now. I'll be choosing the i5 since it's better for gaming, showing the benchmarks over the net.

Re: New Laptop
i7 > i5. i5's are scaled down for cheaper pc's and some mid grade laptops, i3's are even lower on the scale.

Re: New Laptop
The core i5 750 is faster then the i7 920 (which is 160 bucks more expensive). i7 is in that way useless atleast the 920 version. The 850 instead is faster, but way too expensive. Only when it comes to hyperthreading the i5 loses. But it's still powerfull enough to do the job.

It's dutch, but you'll be able to see the benches.

And another one:

Gonna make an order close to the end of this month.

Re: New Laptop
I7 920 (what I have) will always be faster than an I5. Mine's running a 4 ghz, and perfectly. Corsair H50 cooler, never goes above 50 C. I dunno shit about laptops, but I know this, for Alienware, about 40 % of the cost is simply for the name. You can get a good gaming Dell, for 1/2 to 2/3rds of the cost with 80-125% of the performance. Just my 1.75 cents worth. Oh yeah, my 920 started at 2.66 ghz. So, the OC'ing is WAY easy, and with good cooling, very stable.
