Ok so storms have been raping the area I live in for a day or two. About a foot of rain so far. About 6 am today, a massive thunder shook my house, power went out. Alarm on all 3 cars went off as did the house alarm. We got the car alarms off but the house alarm wouldn't go off. At this point I noticed it has been blowing for like 10 min. And no call from the alarm company. So I called them. The tried to dial into it with no luck. So the had me open the panel and unplug the battery. Ok so all annoying noise gone. We get back in bed. About 3 min later every smoke alarm in the house starts going off (all connected so with the alarm panel dead now I can't see which zone is setting it off we we go on a hunt thru the house to find this problem. It is the office. Smoke has filled the room. But no fire. Turns out it was the ups protecting the computers. So open the window a bit. Go outside to smoke on the back porch. Get out there and see fire. It is the power pole my transformer (which is also burning) is on (about 250 feet away) just burning away. Alex grabs all the hoses and hooks them together to get out to it and try to put it out while the fire dept is on the way makes it worse. The top has been blown clean off the transformer and the water is splashing the oil inside the transformer out so he quits and just keeps the area around the pole wet till the fire dept gets there. They arrive and get the fire out. So I have also called the power company. About this time they are getting there. They replace the transformer. And get their 3 trucks stuck in the process. So jenni and I grab the tractor and back hoe. And pull them out. So the go and flip the line fuses back on. The front of my power meter blows off. At this point I am think OMG this can't get any worse. They replace the meter. And I have power back. My alarm starts to go off again. So I kill the breaker to it. It shuts up. But half of my house is starting to fill with smoke. So kill the breakers across the panel. Clear the smoke with the attic fan. And start doing breaker by breaker to see what is smoking.

Power company said my transformer took a direct lightning hit.
So far I have found that every computer including any laptops plugged in are fried. All TVs except the small one in the kitchen. Every satellite reciever. My tivos. All surge protectors. All ups. My fridge and deep freeze. My microwave. My hot water heater. And the blower on my central HVAC. Don't know about the ac unit as the control on the wall is fried also. So basically everything that was plugged into electricity with a couple exceptions. And several ac outlets in my wall and 4 light switches are all fried. My insurance company is gonna love me. Luckly my iPhone wasn't on the charger but my work phone was and it is fried.

We found the top of the transformer about 500 feet on the other side of my house. So about 750 feet it flew

Gotta love living in the dark ages again. I have power but nothing except lightbulbs to use that power. Kill me now

As Gorilla said, it's shocking you typed all that on the iPhone ), kinda explains all the typo's and other stuff.

Hope you get it all fixed and stuff, I know I'd be pissed if I didn't have my PC/Microwave/Phones/Laptops/water heater fried, basically everything that makes life somewhat less annoying.

ok so i have internet back YIPPY and i went and bought one of those 9" $300 Atom Processor laptops just to get going, (I Wonder if this will play AAO, J\K). so neways i bought a new DSL Router with modem built in, and got my internet back going..... so good to go with .01% of my problems resolved lol

On a serious note, while all that happened sucks, it could have been a lot worse if you or Alex were in contact with one of those devices that blew.
