AMD/INTEL | nVidia/Ati

Okay...

So in a while, im planning on buying a new PC... Desktop.

Now, im thinking between these 2 things!

Should I choose AMT or Intel CPU'S? And should I choose nVidia or Ati?

I have always used Intel's and ATI's.

Not based on any sort of scientific research, just the way I have done it for years.

Being an AMD person from way back in the K2 era I say go Intel at this point if you want maximum performance. Both brands of graphics cards are good but I have both and the nVidia drivers have always been better than ATI.

here is my take on the Intel AMD thing...... AMD back in the day kicked ass, however they didn't have the funds to compete full scale with Intel.... not a biggy.... however since AMD purchased ATI, those said lesser funds have become even more spread, even with the added income source from ATI.... they are having to put all the money into GPU development to keep up with Nvidia... as a result (IMHO) that is why they performance has been lacking in the latest AMD products.... 3-4 years ago i would have said AMD - ATI as of late i would have to say Intel Core 2 (Duo/Quad) and a Nvidia Video Card

Gonna choose nVidia and Intel.

Now what videocard and processor?! Hades said: i7 920... And im still thinking about that one. But its pretty expensive (atleast here in holland) and the videocards... are fucking insane! The new GTX285 from nVidia costs 450-500 euro's thats.. 650 us dollars.

Right now it seems an i7 would last a good 4-5 years before you weren't meeting specs on whatever game you wanted to play.

Keep in mind, for a significant amount less, a core 2 quad will run AA3 and whatever the hell else you want in the background without issue.

Hardware is going to be phased out within 10 years. All you'll need is a modem, monitor, and peripherals. Research, "cloud computing."

Anybody remember the SEGA channel? Back in the day, you would subscribe to this, and your cable company would allow you to stream any sega game you wanted right to your genesis unit.

if you want to shit bricks everytime you play, shell out the 650 for the card. if you want to enjoy your games to the fullest for much cheaper and no clean up i would keep looking. theres no game out right now worth a card like that. maybe when once porn gets so HD you can smell em, maybe then the 650 is justified.

your on a pretty modest income no? 650 is like half a pay check for me this summer of which i only get 3

The i7920 is well worth the money. I used to be a AMD fanboy till Intel started kicking ass in the performance department. As far as cards goes, I am a nvidia fan all the way. I have used ATI on multiple occasion and alway found the drivers lacking.

thought the same.. Maybe the i7 920... is still not neccesary. It will be some day. We said the same with dualcores.. now some games need quad cores. So im gonna go for it... to be set in the future...

I'd buy the i7 with no doubt, so worth it.

As for $650 for gpu, I've spent that much and it was worth it. I got the 8800gtx when it came out and that shot was beastmode, worked for 2 years and then I had issues, but ofcourse I had lifetime warranty and they replaced it with a 9800gtx.
