Is my mobo dying?
Typing this on an ancient and completely filthy ancient old keyboard. As my keyboard stopped working this morning, ok, fine, it's old and was cheap, no big deal. Ok, grab the wireless, it's working. Start typing something, no more keyboard. Hmm, wireless mouse (both feed off same receiver thingy) working fine. Hmm, uhoh. Hook up this old POS, didn't work. Had to reboot to get it to work. Is that a warning sign of my mobo getting ready to die? It getting old, 2006 I think. Weird thing, was that I had the same problem with both Win 7 and XP. Wireless stuff is USB obviously, but the regular keyboard I just use the ps2 thingy. Everything's nice and tight, device manager's fine. Getting worried. May have to build me a new comp sooner than I expected. :-\ /

Re: Is my mobo dying?
Does your wireless keyboard use a battery? Might have to replace it if it does. The need to reboot for the PS2 keyboard to work is not cause for alarm.

Re: Is my mobo dying?
Yeah, mobo's ok. I run BOTH the ps2 keyboard and the wireless mouse and keyboard all at the same time. The wireless was causing the trouble, and yeah, it probably is just the batteries. I haven't bothered installing the setpoint software, so that might be a cause as well.
