If you have the means go with a bigger monitor. I used a 17" for the first year of my gaming.

I saved my money and bought a Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP 24-inch . Half of my computer building cost at the time. I justified the cost in using it as TV Screen also. Clearer picture than most HD LCD TVs I have look at.

I forgot what I paid for it exactly, but, every time I used some else's monitor, I am like "Dude, you need to get a Dell."

Asus, Samsung, Hanns-G?, Viewsonic all make good LCD's which can be found for less than the price of similar sized Dell's.

Not to contradict you Hades, and I don't know how the quality of the LCD market in now, but at the time of my purchase 2 1/2 years ago, I didn't see anything in picture quality that could match the Dell Ultrasharp Series Monitor. Plus, I needed the input ports(USB, DVI-D, VGA, S-Video, Composite,Component) the the Dell UltraSharp series comes with..

I did all my Monitor shopping in store and then went online to find the best price.

Sneye, if you do shop around for a monitor quality, let me know what you find out.

Good advice. And actually the 17 inch lcd would just be for my OLD (current) computer. For this one I just grabbed an Acer 25.5 inch lcd. Native resolution is 1920X1200 so that's what I run everything at. Was running a Sony 20" CRT before the lcd. I still think the quality is better of the CRT is better than lcd. But the damn monitor was HUGE! and weighed like 120 lb's. But, I really can't complain about the ACER though. Only thing I don't care for is when you're watching a movie, the blacks aren't black enough.
