How long before this goes on a gun?

I say, 2 years.

Promising, but also scary - fusion is not something to take lightly.

As for being on guns, 2 years will never happen... the energy they're drawing to get that on a single point is from a sphere the size of a house. They won't be able to engineer it to be small enough in 2 years (if ever) to be on a gun. Now something like tanks, on the other hand...

I was thinking more of the environmental or large scale damage caused, not the pain, but you're right, I'd rather get hit by the laser.

I can't see us ever getting past wars - conflict is an integral part of our nature. It is what drives us to be better and better (beat our opposition). I suppose if the world got united under one government then official wars would be done with, but there would still be insurgency or resistance.
