Well, I decided to enter the 1990's and bought an IPhone. Well, ordered one, should be here early next week. Apparently I have to "unbrick it". Whatever that means. Went with the 16 gig one, it's like $300. Black of course. $25/month for the data plan for it, 500 mb/mo. Is that 500 meg reasonable or am I going to use that in a weekend? I'll basically be using the data for GPS and email, trolling here, etc. Nothing serious. So, what apps do I need, what accessories, etc. ? Anything I should or shouldn't do?

I don't know about the mb's but I do know you just spent money on something well worth it.
I wouldn't know what to do with myself without mine. The GPS map that come with it is awesome, I use it at work and while riding my bike, but it drains the battey. That the only bad thing about the IPhone, battery life.
Also, this month we should get the 3.0 os upgrade Big Grin

500 should be more than enough, but i dont think it costs that much more to get unlimited, you can even just threaten to leave to see if u get a better plan, every1 seems to be doing it right now and they are getting some good plans.

Do not charge it during at night because this phone has a shitty battery. Charging its battery more than it needs to it drains out the battery easier and faster!

Other than that it is a good phone i cant complain.

I've never noticed this and always charge it when going to bed. Battery dies fastest when you have 3g enabled, I disable it at home to save the battery life and it makes the biggest difference (even brightness doesn't affect it as much).

It drains the battery fast reguardless, it seems. Just make sure you have a car charger. I find it sucks the charge from the car charger super fast. My only gripe.

My parents got a business plan with 5 lines with new phones (Samsung Eternity's).

I had the iPhone before this (I bought the white 16gb for ~$550) and the line I had with the new plan had an unlimited data plan on it which is $15. So I just put that SIM into the iPhone and it worked perfectly. My dad is using his sim with his Blackberry and it works with that too, so I think it should work with any phone.

So basically, if you buy the iPhone from AT&T you pay less but then they screw you over for the data plan ($30 instead of $15) and having the phone line on the plan ($10 standard for adding a line but $20 for iPhone I think).

Well, surprise surpise, it arrived today! :-o Only ordered it like 2 days ago. Well, it's unbricked, activated, sync'd, app's and games downloaded, music put in, etc. etc. I forgot to put music video's in, but that's next, as it's now on it's 2nd recharge. Yeah, fully charged it earlier, went to a buddies, pissed everyone off and amused them as well by playing with the damn thing during a party. I dj'd while making gun and light saber noises. :-B Lasted about 5 hours while raping the battery on it, never let it rest for a minute. Recharging now, damn Google maps and Google Earth is impressive! Well, I've lost about 200 phone #'s in the switch from my Krazer to the IPhone. Turned out I was saving most/all #'s and names to the micro SD card rather than the sim card. If I try to open the Sim tools on the Krazer it just says says that they're not available. So, shit! Aside from my GMail contacts and the people I partied with tonight, I have no #'s, names, etc etc. This is quite a problem actually as most of the girls I visit on a completely random schedule are in there. I have no idea what their #'s and addresses (sometimes names) actually are. I have a program and cables and shit to transfer all that info, but all I can find is an older Motorola cable 2 USB. That's it, no box, no new cables, no software, don't remember the name of the box, etc. Shit, cost me like $120 and I have no idea where it is. It allowed me to read the sim card AND/Or the memory card in anyone phone and save it to a database. Which I'm sure I could've imported into Gmail or something and make everything hunkydory.

Sigh, well, it's easier/faster to do all this shit on the computer anyway, so, shouldn't be a HUGE deal, but it will be time consuming. The gf's will have to wait until they call me. 8-| Grabbed about 350 megs of apps and games, added about 750 songs or so, so, it's got good variety, grabbed some good apps and some that are only worth running once. How do you delete them? Shazam is AMAZING! 2X since it's free. Tested it tonight, won $10 X2. Very Slick. Grabbed the 36 meg dictionary, well worth the size. Found a free wifi finder that actually works, found a shitload of calender day book stuff actually works, etc. etc. An accurate traffic program, accurate weather program, fast food places in the area, TD banks in the area, etc. etc. I'm quite impressed. Funny pics programs like my catz eated your cowburgers or something like that. Funny funny shit! Very popular at a party. Stuff like that anyway. Still got a shitload of room, got the 16 gig version of course. Now, I'm not going to jailbreak it until the 3.0? version comes out and then see what happens after that.

Stuff I gotta buy: Need a car charger, obviously, will get one with an FM doohickey. Suggestions? Need a Dock with USB thing/Alarm Clock/REALLY GOOD SPEAKERS! Any suggestions? I've checked out Bose, JBL, Logitech, Apple, etc. Good ones are around $200 but don't have the usb to dock option, that obvously I'd want. Need a good protective case. Suggestions? Ummm, anything else? :-\

If you wanna delete an app that you put on there, just hold down with your finger on the icon for a few seconds.
