Re: Steam Pre-loading AAO3
I don't believe Steam ever asked where to save AA3 and I have no idea where it is. Doesn't seem to be anywhere in the Steam folder. I guess I'm in no hurry yet since Steam seems to keep up with the updates, but as soon as the game works I'll do it.

Re: Steam Pre-loading AAO3
Hmmm. That's odd, because I was able to specify the location.
I don't know if you can point the DC to a filepath or not, so moving the game folder may or may not help. 3rd party programs are a pain in the ass.

Re: Steam Pre-loading AAO3
Hunt, right click on AA3 in steam and go to 'create desktop shortcut'.

Re: Steam Pre-loading AAO3
ya ive never liked steam, only decided to use it cause its on my comp cause of css. But its not even working, and i know its what is causing my shortcut problem, it updated itself in the middle of the install of the game, and crashed. It also takes up a large amt of resources when its running in the background imo.

Re: Steam Pre-loading AAO3
I did find the folder in Steam where AA was installed and created a shortcut to the .exe but still having problems trying to do training. The game freezes when clicking on train the obstacle course. What a piece of junk.

Re: Steam Pre-loading AAO3
After much frustration, I finally qualified to play - the bugs only get worse in actual multiplayer, not to mention the horrible, horrible lag.

Re: Steam Pre-loading AAO3
OK Hunt. It's my understanding that this is a common problem since Pommiewog, and many others on loads of forums are having the same issue.
What I've noticed is, if it freezes when you load a training mission, it will freeze when you try to connect to a server to play the game. The general consensus to get the bastard working is: Change the sound device in the settings menu to "generic software." To get rid of steam and just play the damn game: Go to the drive you installed steam on and remove this folder: "Steam\Steamapps\common\AA3" Spoiler (Click to View) Uninstall steam, install deploy client, and try to launch the game with the DC. If it works, you're good to go w/ automatic updates (which they've been doing frequently). If not, uninstall the DC and reinstall it, should work then. If you don't give a shit about automatic updates, create a shortcut from the .exe in the aa3\binaries folder and you're good to go.

Re: Steam Pre-loading AAO3
I'm going to leave it in Steam so if there is an update, I'll just start from Steam and let it do it for me. For normal playing I'll just use my desktop shortcut to directly load AA3.
