My new I7 System
Well, I got tired of having a slow ass computer, that used to fast. So.....figured I'd get a new one. Hopefully I'll have it this week. Was going to build it myself, but I found a canadian website that had exactly what I wanted. So, screw it, would take me longer to wait for all the special order stuff anyway. This is what I ordered, will be adding 2 1.5 terrabyte Black drives, and some Sennheiser? PC350's, oh yeah, a Rachesis too. Anyway, here's the specs. Should do for at least 2 years.

Re: My new I7 System
Heheheh, well, the computer I'm on now is probably 4 years old. AMD 64X2 4400 with 2 gig of OCZ DDR ram. So, even with the 1 gig 4890, the mobo/cpu/ram is a serious bottleneck. And with the socket 939 mobo, there's no upgrading options available. Myself, I prefer AMD to Intel, but, simply put, right now, AMD doesn't have anything to compete with the I7. Just checked the site again, apparently, it'll be like 2 full weeks for them just to get the parts, build it and do all the burn in, install, and quality control stuff. Ahh well, price was still about the same as building it myself, customer testimonials are all excellent, etc. etc. About the only thing coming off this computer to the new one, will be one hard drive and the 24" monitor. Still considering pulling the 4890 out of this one and putting it in the new comp. Saphire Radeon 4890 1 gig ram X3!!!!!! W000tage! =p~ =p~ B-)

Re: My new I7 System
Well Sennheiser PC350 G4ME Gaming Headset and 2 Seagate 1.5TB Serial ATA HD 7200/32MB/SATA-3G are ordered and on there way. Got a new Canon camera SD790IS, and ordered a 32 gig Iphone 3G-S. Sheesh, expensive week. My Barracuda's have a broken thingy that holds 1 side of 1 headphone on, so, time for a new set.

Re: My new I7 System
Well, got the system on the 5th. It's all hooked up and 98% running (Vista :ymsick: ). Had to order it, needed the 64 bit because of the 6 gig ram, and Win 7 is not out yet. Anyway, updated computer to SP2, added 1 hard drive, hooked up mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc. etc. Did another 400 meg or so of updates. System is wicked FAST, even on Vista. #-o Installed Fallout 3 last night, it did it's benchmark thing, automatically set everything to ULTRA, very pretty game, 1920X1200 (my max monitor res) cranked, gotta be somewhere around 100 fps. Just finished installing Far Cry 2, gotta install Sims 3, COD 4 and COD5, Prototype, Fuel, maybe Juiced and/or Grid. Anything else I should be putting in? Oh yeah, gotta install AA3 as well.

Ok, couple issues.

Logitech G15 Version 2 Gaming keyboard.

Not all keys work. IE, delete key, I, O, and some others. LCD works fine, put in the newest drivers from Logitech, and if I reboot with that keyboard hooked up, it's takes FOREVER if it even boots. So, I'll check out the bios on that.

CDC for TWL AAO matches.

You have to turn off your anti-virus to install the program (false virus report) install it, and if you're running the 64 bit version of Vista, it installs ok, then it updates, and as soon as it updates, it screws you. It says you have to run it as admin. And even with UAC off, you can be logged in as admin, right click on the program, click the run as admin option, set the program to run as admin, etc. it won't work. Friggin' irritating.

Creative SoundBlaster X-FI Titanium.

Great sound!

Haven't been able to get to mic working yet. But, between the ATI HD cards, the onboard audio, the front mounted headphone and mic jacks, and the 2 back mounted plugs, I'm sure I'll be able to get it going, again, another trip into bios to check if onboard audio is disabled. If I check sounds in control panel, I have a ridiculous amount of options listed in there.

Good system though, not cheap, but this should be fine for at least 4 years. B-)

Re: My new I7 System
heheh, well, gotta do it. The computer has actually impressed me.

This is DX10, and everything cranked as high as I can go. This should learn you Nvidia fanboys. Big Grin
