I heard there were a bunch of cop cars around the base of the "Witness" billboard downtown, choppers in the air, etc.

Whatever, though, man. He didn't show me shit in the end of the series with the Celtics - he looked like he just gave up. Fuck him. We can suck without him.

Then again, Dan Gilbert (majority owner) just released an open letter to Cavs fans basically calling LeBron a traitor and deserter... and guaranteed a championship before "The King" gets one. While I think it may have been a little distasteful the way Gilbert has approached the situation, I respect him for not going all PC on it like everyone these days does... you certainly know how he feels about the situation.

Re: Miami
LOL funny how he's pissed off seeing as how Cleveland didn't do shit for LeBron who made the mistake of putting hometown loyalty over winning. Cav's basically made James their working horse for 7 years and didn't bother getting him another allstar to actually win, so fuck the Cavalier management (West/Williams/Verejao/Shaq were good but not championship caliber).

I don't think theirs a reason for calling James a traitor because he gave 7 years of his prime to Cleveland and nothing good came out of it. I do agree about the lack of effort vs. the Celtics though (I think he just realized that his team could not hope to compete against them, this was true).

So much is wrong with this first paragraph that I will have to come back to it later after work when I have time.

EDIT: Alright, home from work. Cleveland did EVERYthing for LeBron. Where do you get that they didn't?? They got players HE fuckin' wanted, they tried to build around him... they practically sucked him 'til his dick turned white. They tried for Jason Kidd and several other "all-stars" in trades and free agency while still staying in a budget to be able to give depth and to give HIM the fuckin' money he would want to stay when his contract came up (which we offered 30 MILLION more than Miami). So please, tell me how the Cavaliers management didn't do anything for him.

The Cavaliers weren't championship caliber? They were the best record 2 seasons in a row, went to the finals and lost the one year, etc. Shit happens. LeBron flat out quit in half of his games in the late end of series in the playoffs, and you could see it.

Now, do I blame him for going to Miami? No, I don't, believe it or not. That combination of players vs staying in Cleveland... it would've been a tough choice. More money and management willing to do anything for you (not to mention a city willing to do the same) in Cleveland vs an all-star cast with probably depth issues and having to sign players at the minimum contracts just to fill the roster. The Miami thing might work out for him, but I think he'd have been better in Cleveland or Chicago.

HOWEVER, I DO blame him for the way he went about handling this situation. Dan Gilbert said it pretty well when he called it "narcissistic, self-promotional" bullshit, essentially. To build all of this shit up to a head only to shit on the team that has given you everything you wanted? That's just flat out disrespectful and ignorant. And the talking in the 3rd person crap like he's a god? He needs to get over himself just a tad. Granted he is a phenomenal athlete, but there's no need to let that kind of ego take control of you. He didn't quite have as such a bad ego in his early years with the Cavs... now it's 100-fold worse.

Oh, and while Gilbert called him a traitor, I'm not saying that. Like I said, it was a tough decision (though I think those 3 planned this when they signed their matching contracts in 2006), but it's just the way he went about handling this that pissed me off more than anything.

Summary: Fuck LeBron

Re: Miami
Wade, Lebron, Bosh were in the '03 draft class not '06. And as for them doing anything for him, money isn't what I'm talking about. Seven years and they still couldn't get a decent 2nd player? As for best record those 2 years, it doesn't mean much when you can't win in the finals (I was supporting the Cavs both those years and even this year over the Celtics who I also like). Yeah it's sad that he had to leave, his team and city loved him but they weren't getting close to winning championships both those years.

I wasn't referring to their draft class; I know they were 2003. They all signed contract extensions in 2006... to end in the same year. Like I said, not pissed about him leaving, pissed about how he handled it.

Re: Miami
The press confrence? I'm pretty sure it was ESPN that set it up the way it was (with all the suspense, maximum $), the money they were gonna pay Lebron was then donated to the Boys & Girls Club.
