Where were you 8 years ago?
8 years ago today, I was still in high school.. sitting in a chem 2 class (3rd period, I think).. watching it all on TV. Then in band, watching it on TV. And in history... being told we couldn't watch it on TV. Moron.
I remember seeing the 2nd tower fall when I was in band... Crazy that it's been so long.

Re: Where were you 8 years ago?
Was at high school aswell..
Remember the 2 last classes would not continue.. so we could go home earlier. Came home around 15.12 Mom was sitting infront of the TV.. She didnt say hey baby. No just starred, I sat next to her.. didnt say a thing. A small time later the second plane hit the tower. Was stunned and shocked.

Re: Where were you 8 years ago?
was living at Camp Pendleton, I had gone out with a couple of the girls shopping, we were in foley's if i remember correctly, when we saw everyone running out of the store trying to get into Radio Shack, we followed.. Watched in shock... and decided heading back to the Base would be the best idea... we ended up stuck outside of the base for about 6 hours since they were on complete lockdown. no1 in and no1 out... finally after waiting there they started slowly letting people in... we had to present our IDs then they had to contact our family's units... and get approval to even go home.

Re: Where were you 8 years ago?
Woke up that morning to my father watching the news and loading every magazine he owned for his .45. I'm assuming he also just got done cleaning it. I got my cereal and sat down just in time for the replay of the first plane hitting the first tower. We had about a 30 second discussion about me going to school that day, and it went like this,
"Are there cops at school?" "Yeah" "You're going." Hauled ass to school through some of the most belligerent traffic and got to first period (ROTC). The Colonel had CNN up on the TV, and that's when I saw the second plane hit. Nobody said a word, but everybody in the room was feeling the same thing.

Re: Where were you 8 years ago?
Got a call from a friend saying we were under attack. At the time we lived right near the Airport and wondered why things were quiet. Soon, the sky was filled with fighters from the near by base. Watched the news all day that day.

5th grade class (oh how time passes). We had a substitute teacher and we talked about it but no one really understood what was happening.

Re: Where were you 8 years ago?
I'm late to this but I'll still comment.
I was at my work's office and one of my bosses came out and said a plane went into the Twin Towers. Then I got my work for the day and drove to the Port of Palm Beach to do some surveying. I didn't do shit but listen to the radio all day. I couldn't believe what I was listening to. All day I was going over(in my head) weather or not to join the military and help kick these fuckers ass's. I was pissed off. |

I was at work and heard it on the radio also. Break time was at 9:00 AM so I headed to a TV to see the news. It was totally shocking. I also actually though of rejoining the military for a while.

Re: Where were you 8 years ago?
I was in Greenwich Ct working for mu uncles oil company as a service manager and witnessed the heavy black smoke
since we can see some of the tall builings and bridges from there. Also saw jet fighters streaking about at tree top level, most flying out to sea.

Re: Where were you 8 years ago?
I was in High School... Being at the time a licensed Pilot the first thought in my mind was 'Thats way too clear of skies to be an accident' Voiced my opinion and was kicked out of my english class, then sitting in the hallway I saw the second plane hit... at that moment I got really scared, my father was in new york on a business trip... needless to say the whole account has led to huge losses for many, not just on that day. I've lost 3 cousins to date, and 4 friends, My father was fine.
The sad thing I find in Canada is however how the turn out rate for remembrance day is still the same, and how stores are still open, There is no shame. |

Re: Where were you 8 years ago?
I was getting on Triboro Bridge in NY heading to my school (College City of NY) in Harlem and that's when i saw a big smoke coming from downtown Manhattan....seconds later i witnessed the second plane crashing into the other tower...The day was so clear that it seemed like a movie scene from the bridge...so scary! I paid the tolls and returned immediately home to watch the news.

Re: Where were you 8 years ago?
I was on a remote and secluded island in Saskatchewan wondering how long it was going to take to get back into the country.
