Live forever??
Might be possible for some of us.

Re: Live forever??
There are so many ridiculous holes in his argument. If his argument was a type of cheese, it would be such a profound kind of swiss cheese that there would in fact be no cheese at all...

We don't FIX those things, we TREAT them - a MAJOR difference.

Re: Live forever??
No one is gonna ever be able to live forever. 'Cause the Earth is gonna be destroyed one day by the Sun and I doubt we make it far enough along in time to be able to populate Space or another planet besides Earth.

Re: Live forever??
So you're saying that with our computers that out-power the human brain (projected by 2050) that we wouldn't be able to do something with other planets like like climatise them?

Get it to actually happen. You can compute all you want.

It's all speculation anyway. The point was to get you thinking, not to start a debate.

Re: Live forever??
Teraforming is possible. I don't know about immortality... but the human life span can definitely be expanded. Last paper I read on the topic said that aging stops at 70 and it postulated that with advances in medicine and stem cell research we can live up to 4,000+ years. However, this isn't happening anytime soon, one step at a time.

Re: Live forever??
It will cost you a lot, living long and fighting the ageing process by medication.

Freakin' ventriloquist hippies!

[THANATOS Wrote:.-Hades"]Teraforming is possible.

Right, that's why there is no fix for climate change. Terraforming would be a billion times harder and more complex.

Re: Live forever??
Hunt... I said that it will take time, but it's possible. It sounds like something out of a sci-fi book but as technology improves it is becoming more of a reality. As for climate change, new breakthrough research on controlling or altering the carbon cycle is also making that possible. Just because something isn't "possible" today doesn't mean it's impossible.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I doubt humans can live forever, but it's obvious that the average lifespan will increase.

[THANATOS Wrote:.Shiver-"]<opting out of climate change argument for safety of all involved>

good idea.

Edit: I just noticed that he said there is no fix for climate change. Does this mean that he finally accepts that climate change is a problem?

No, there has always been climate change and we can't fix it.

Re: Live forever??
[THANATOS Wrote:.Huntchuks"]No, there has always been climate change and we can't fix it.

1) Yes, there has always been global climate fluctuation, however, it is MUCH more pronounced in the past 30-40 years in the positive direction (not in the "happy" sense, but direction sense). New records are being set every year - most hurricanes, most tornados, highest global temperature average, etc etc.

2) That remains to be seen. There is increasing evidence that much of the current problem with global climate change is man-made due to our CO2 output, so while it may not be able to be "fixed" (at least by current evidence), it may be able to be "reversed"... that also remains to be seen, considering CO2 output has not altered that much - "clean coal" and "clean cars," or not. Not enough change has been implemented yet.
