my fucking internet is not working anymore for some reason.

all of a sudden got really slow. is there a way to increase network utilization (in task manager)

task manager can't do anything related to net speed, just shows network activity.

try speedtest.net and pingtest.net to test your connection.

then try to reset router/modem and refresh your PC's ip by doing ipconfig /renew.

ya, listen to Eunis. I had the same problem turned out it was the company's fault, something was wrong with the modem, we just kept calling them and had them reset it from their end which fixed the problem for a day or two, and when it stopped we would just call them back. Havent had the problem in the last 3 weeks or so though.

90% of most inet slowdowns are from the server side (ie, your ISP). I do High speed install and HS repairs for residential and business customers, clec and Centrix as well. Most problems are caused by a port speed being set wrong, wrong timeouts, over and/or under capacity ports and/or a problem with the line card. The afforementioned problems are all on the server side, and unless you have access to private information and/or a $2000 tool, you'd never know. If the problem is the sub (subscriber side) it's usually something quite simple. No filter on the phone, trying to run inet over an extension, too much interference with wifi, unsecured wifi (everyone steals it) and/or a virus/trojan/backdoor. If you're picked up a used computer, it IS possible (though unlikely) that t port/comm setting is also causing trouble, but unlikely as most people don't even know where to find that info and/or change it.

Unrelated but fuck it:
Turned on the PC today and got no display and just 3 beeps from the tower itself, restarted and tried again with no luck. Thought RAM might be faulty so opened the case to remove and test and stuff but after looking at the fucking maze inside with all the dust I realized that it might just need cleaning. So, spent the better part of the day (at least 4 hours) cleaning the inside of my pc, adding more coolant, cleaning the areas around the pc and the LCD screen. Even spilled coolant while pouring it into the reservoir, had to use towel to clean that and then dry it with an industrial fan. This apparently fixed everything and it's up and running now, although moving the tower to the left is making me feel claustrophobic cause the rest of the desk is blocked by the huge tower sitting in the center.

On a side note, I've been getting lock ups sometimes when I turn the PC on, windows loads fine and everything and then it just locks up. Seems to be random and I've yet to find the cause, maybe it's fixed now.

yeah, the post/beep codes can tell you quite a bit. My first thought, just reading what you posted is temperature. Go, into your bios at startup and check the temps. Could be the cpu fan starting to go, possibly even the power supply. I usually end up changing my power supply every year or so, and have similar problems to what you describe.

Thanks for the link Enfo, and Sneye for the PSU tips. When it was beeping I checked the beep codes and it showed that it was a RAM problem, and that's why I went through the whole clean and reseat all the wires/cables process. This ended up solving the issue, don't know if it will happen again.

As for PSU, I don't think I have to replace it anytime soon. It's the Cooler Master RealPower 750 pro, has been rocksolid since I got it and it should last another 2-3 years at least.
